Sexual Promicuity is not a Constitutional Right

I have been reading the debate about the defunding of Planned Parenthood with  some measure of satisfaction that comes from the hope that maybe our country is starting to come to its senses.
We have to stop killing babies and facilitating the sexual promiscuity that leads to so many unwanted pregnancies. Planned parenthood's sole mission is to make sexual relations inconsequential under the guise of women's health. If they wish to facilitate ever increasing promiscuity in this country and throughout the world that is their business. Our government should not provide one dime in assistance. And we should oppose their efforts at every turn.
It is my belief that the mission of PP is inextricably linked to Roe v.Wade. While Roe legalized abotion under the guise of privacy rights and the womens right to control her own body it also had the effect of acknowledging a woman's right to inconsequential sexual relations much as men have enjoyed for generations. (does the old phrase "love em and leave em come to mind?)
Roe indirectly endorsed the free love  movement of the sixties and seventies. The unwanted pregnancy epidemic, by its nature  had more drastic consequences for women than men. The pill and abortion permitted women to treat sex as casually men had forever.  The pill gave women the avenue to pursue sexual pleasure at will and abortion provided a way to avoid the immediate consequences of mistakes or bad choices. ( we will set aside the rape issue which does requires thoughtful compassion). Young men  for the most part have always been selfish and single minded when it comes to sex. They often times have contol over how much  accountability they will take for their sexual promiscuity. Contraception and legalized abortion give the woman a measure of  control today.  Fair right? Maybe but like so many policy issues it begs the question.

The real focus should be on the issues of unwanted pregnancy andsexual promiscuity.  We in the Church know or we should know that our responsibility is to try to promote the Godly view of sex as our ability to join with God in the act of creation of a new live. Our job is to promote a deeper understanding of the beauty and the power God created in us as male and female. The other side of that coin requires us to actively oppose those who  defile or trivialize this special gift from God and who instead promote sexual promiscuity and and the god of sexual pleasure. Hollywood, other pornographers, the media and organizations like Planned Parenthood are among the greatest devaluers of human dignity. They seek to have us belief that our bodies are meant for nothing other than our own pleasure. They help to encourage the rejection of  higher beliefs and values.  They seek to distract us from the fact that we are beloved  daughters and sons of God, created in his image, to know him and serve him on this earth by loving one another as God loves us, unconditionally and completely. Promiscuity and selfishness have nothing to do with the reason God allowed us to have life.

It is time to re-read the creation story in Genesis and Humanae Vitae to rediscover where the Church teaching really fits into this conversation. You will see the respect and dignity for our sexuality that can be found there. Contrast this with the demenaing and devaluing messages that our secular society  has been promoting by selling sex and self-seeking sexual promiscuity  as a path to true hapiness. Only when the world rejects the sales pitch of pronographers, Hollywood and organizations such as PP can we hope to restore human dignity and restore a more civilized society.
